Battle for Blue places
It had been 2:3 at Ernest Bevin. The teams beneath leaders Chadwell Heath had all enjoyed a good result against one or two of the others. PVC had surprised everyone by beating the top side. This was a match in which both sides wanted to do well and it began in tense anticipation.

With only three players from their last game Wildcats made an unsettled start to their fixture in Balham and, although they settled later, the afternoon turned out to be little more than match practice for PVC who needed to exorcise the recent defeat by close rivals, Fireball.

League volleyball on building site
Be warned! The school on which the Bethnal Green Sports Centre stands is under reconstruction. The playground is covered with two-story high temporary classrooms and, at least for the next three weeks, the building between the changing rooms and the playing area is impassable and other parts are out of bounds too. It takes a hundred metres to negotiate the thirty from entrance to venue.
