Mid-match blip seals visitors’ fate
A Sunday afternoon in Paddington seemed to bring the best out of both teams at Westminster Academy Sports Centre where the winner would retain the prospect of a third place finish in the division. After an entertaining match it was the home side that enjoyed success.

G20 Summit lifts Hillingdon higher
Calls on the service have disrupted volleyball plans for the Metropolitan Police club several times this season but nobody at all was available to play after all police leave was cancelled for the week of the G20 Summit over the first couple of days of April.

Keeping the best for divisional leaders
An excellent standard of volleyball was played by both sides. Hillingdon built an early 2:5 lead early in the first set and from there the teams rallied until Hillingdon led 22:18, in spite of six service errors. Cue the service of S Douglas whose deep float serving troubled the Hillingdon passers, catapulting Diggers into a 24:22 lead. Then, on match point a rash decision - a spectacular jump serve that hit the back wall before it landed. This gave grateful Hillingdon the chance they needed and three strong points saw them win the set 24:26.

Teenage talent produces thriller
Stuart Fullerton selected five teenagers for this match expecting the Wandsworth junior team they had faced in the first half of the season but Darius, although a junior himself, has a shrewd head on his shoulders and picked four more experienced players. It made for an exhilarating match.

Crisis of confidence confounds College
Apparently anchored at the foot of the table despite playing well on numerous occasions, Richmond College played for two sets as though they believed they had no chance of beating these older players from Paddington even though they started the first set showing good form.
