Visiting Police succeed in scrappy encounter

Eagles appeared to be at sixes and sevens after having to delete three 'no shows' from the list of players on the score sheet and, although individuals produced examples of skill and agility, they never exhibited sufficient team work to look as though they would overcome the police, themselves a club finding it difficult to put out a settled side and weekly having to perm six from eighteen registered players as work demands degrade availability.

With players stuck on a Thameslink train operated by First Capital Connect who are in dispute with their drivers, Met Police’s sixth player arrived too late to prevent the loss of the first set and only just in time to start the second. As a result there was no time to continue an excellent, exciting game into the deciding set and the rule book – though not the one the train drivers are working to – settled the day.

Late come back just to little for hosts
Flaming 6 Blackjacks lost to Lume (Men’s D2 Red - London Volleyball League)

This match just got more and more exciting as it progressed and the sigh of relief that came from Lume at the close travelled all the way from Battersea to Paddington and risked blowing down the derelict power station on the way.

Last Tuesday, 27th October was to have been a busy day in the Red division with matches opposite the rugby stadium in Twickenham at Richmond upon Thames College and at the Peel Centre in Hendon. Sadly, neither took place.

Had you noticed from the league fixture lists that only in Chadwell Heath in men’s division one is there competition on a Wednesday? Now it comes to South Kensington too.
