London Volleyball : Strong Cup showing by London clubs

London teams' latest results (National Volleyball Cup and Shield)
Osemka giant-killing continues
Six London teams faced London opposition in this weekend's Cup and Shield ties so its representation was bound to be cut by at least 30% but the results mean that four of the last eight in the men's Cup are from London. In the women's cup it's three from eight but the draw had meant that two London teams had to play another London side. Only one team lost to opposition from outside the capital, Black Bears to New Forest in the men's Shield, a London League first division side away beaten by one from the national Second Division.

Women's Super League thrown wide open
London's volleyball fans were spoilt for choice over the weekend with seven matches being played in the nation's capital city over the two days. What riches, especially at the end of the week when they had seen European Championship volleyball at the Copper Box Arena. The Super League men did not fail to reward them and finished the weekend occupying first, second and fourth places in the league table.

Gentler start to B division season
With the third round of matches falling into the first week of November as the computer churned out the new season's fixture list, all but two of this division's teams were given only two October matches. With teams names like Coyotes, Fury, Stingrays and Tigers, it sounds more as though half of them are straining at the leash and ready to go.

Sitting League : Sitting Volleyball:League Final Round

Sunday 6th February was the final round of matches for the inaugural London Sitting Volleyball League (LSVL). This new competition set up in this Paralympic Games year was designed to complement the Volleyball England Grand Prix Series and provide some additional competition for the 3 teams based in and around London both to help the teams continue their impressive recent development but also give the Great Britain Players some additional matches in preparation for the WOVD Inter Continental Cup in Cairo at the end of February.
