Beach volleyball news
Disappointment rules the sand
More sad news came from Volleyball England this morning (18th May) with an announcement of the cancellation of the bulk of the UK Beach Tour competition for this summer, However it is hoped that two events will be able to go ahead:
- Bridlington Grand Slam (due to be held between 29th and 30th August)
- Bournemouth Grand Slam Championships (due to be held between 5th and 6th September)
The staging is, of course, are subject to review.

Jake Sheaf, UKBT Director, explained, “When government guidelines start to indicate that we can resume events, we will work with the tournament organisers to implement a calendar that is fair when it comes to: star distribution, location distribution and no key clashes. There will be the possibility that we schedule events for late summer: September and October, too".

The Association explained that with the government giving its clearest indication yet of the country’s response to the virus in the next few months; it has become clear that it will not be possible to host all planned beach volleyball events this summer.

Full details are available on the governing body web site
