Men's Premier : Lynx collapse after two set battle
Posted by Media Team on 2020/1/25 8:57:48 (241 reads)

Lynx lost to Lionhearts Alpha 22:24 20:22 12:21 Men's Premier Division (London Volleyball League)
Superb contest in Leyton
Lionhearts got on top early in the third set and won it very easily to leave their hosts languishing at the foot of the table while maintaining their own place in a position to challenge for the title.

For forty-odd minutes prior to that the match had been very close indeed, Lynx led more often than Lionhearts in the first set but never by more than a point or two but from 20:all, their opposition took the lead and after five close rallies, took the opening set.

Lynx went 1:5 up at the start of the second but were quickly caught and Lionhearts took the lead at 6:5. From then on the set was as close as the first until late on when the home side built a five point lead at 20:15. The set looked over but Lynx raised their game magnificently and tied things again at 20:all. They probably deserved better but, side out secured at that point, Lionhearts seized their chance. It was two; nil.

Effectively, it proved to be the end.
