Wapping Wildcats lost to Onyx 18:21 15:21 15:21 Men's Premier Division (London Volleyball League)
Swap of league position
Sixth and seventh in the table, Onyx men moved above the relegation zone as a result of the well-deserved win over a determined opposition.

Onyx began to impose themselves on proceedings after first set exchanges had reached 5:all with a run of five winning rallies. Wapping recovered very well, indeed gradually eliminating the gap as they closed to 18:all but then, side-out secured, Onyx controlled the rest of the set. The early stages of the second set were equally close and the lead changed hands several times as the score mounted to 9:all. Onyx were then able to ease further and further ahead gradually increasing their lead to 14:19. gaining service gave each team in turn a point, then Onyx finished off the set. Then came the best set of the match. For the third time, the early stages of the set were close, Onyx forcing a time-out at 6:4 but leading just 10:11 when Wildcats called the first of theirs. The contest continued to be tight and the score was level again at 15:all. Then the Onyx captain rotated to serve and five successive serves leading to winning rallies led to triumph.

Having lost to Onyx Black by the tiniest of margins in November, Wildcats will be disappointed not to have done better and will be looking to improve for their next outing on 2nd February against Richmond, also taken to five sets early in the season.
