NVL Super 8 : Lionhearts meet expectations

London teams' latest results (National Volleyball League)
Dartford disappointment again
With the weekend reserved for any backlog of ties in the knock-out competitions and most of English volleyball continuing its mid season break, there was little activity in the National Volleyball League; just two matches in the women's section were scheduled.

Their string of "nearly" results continued. Leeds were four places higher in the first division table with a six point advantage but Dartford arrived in Yorkshire hoping for a victory that would ease them away from the relegation zone and came very close to achieving it, winning the first set to give immediate notice of their intentions. They narrowly last the next two before a good fourth set win set up an exciting finish. Alas, it did not go their way. Leeds move up to second. Dartford's point moves them up a place but the three teams below them all have games in hand. The danger continues. A trip to south Wales in two weeks' time requires a win.

Norwich Spikers have not won in the second division all season so were expecting a tough match when visitors Lionhearts arrived, top of the table, winner of every match and having dropped just a single set in the first half of the competition. Lionhearts, as expected, reigned supreme but Norwich made them work to settle into the first set and to produce some of their best volleyball to polish of the third.

Women's Division One
Leeds RGA beat Dartford, 22:25 25:23 25:22 16:25 15:11

Women's Division Two
Norwich lost to Lionhearts, 15:25 13:25 16:25
