Women's Premier : Crocs maintain title challenge

Inter Crocs beat Onyx 21:17 21:13 14:21 21:17 Women's Premier Division (London Volleyball League)
Battling Onyx performance resisted
Crocs overcame Onyx in an interesting and well contested match in Kentish Town, the visitors producing their best form in the third set after losing the thread slightly in the second and both sides finishing off an entertaining evening with a well contested fourth set that eventually went the way of the home side which remains one of three teams with just a single league loss so far with none undefeated..

There was next to nothing between the sides for most of the opening set and the scores were still tied at 16:all. Then the visitors looked to have tied up slightly as Inter went 19:17 ahead before polishing off the set. In the next, Inter took an early two point lead and managed to maintain it against intense Onyx pressure until they led 12:10 A spell of accurate serving from Cristina Vazquez-Reynel, evidently brought from the bench for that purpose, took Inter to sixteen points and they never looked like relinquishing that lead.

The third set began badly for Onyx as they lost the first two rallies but, having got back onto terms at 6:all, they began to compete and held their own as the score mounted to 12:14 despite two time-outs.
They were playing very well and Crocs did not seem to have an answer as they raced to force a fourth set. For most of the set Onyx looked as though they were going to force a fifth set too. They were never behind as they went ahead to 8:12 and seemed to be in no danger at 12:15 when Luca Toth rotated to serve. She gave an exemplary captain's display and by the time she finished her side was 19:16 in front. A point lost then aside out followed by a rally won and the match was theirs.
