Men's Div. 1 B : Black Bears better Baks
Posted by Media Team on 2019/12/5 10:50:00 (62 reads)

Baks lost to Black Bears 22:24 18:21 14:21 Division 1A (Men's London Volleyball League)
Six man hosts suffer three set loss
The loser's point moves Baks to the top of the table after a disappointing defeat at home to Black Bears who keep up their challenge for the title and promotion. The win keeps them in the race although unbeaten Powerball who have played fewer games and beat them at the start of the season, look a firmer favourite.

The first set was a thrilling one throughout with Black Bears establishing a handy early lead before getting caught at 19:all after Baks took a well-timed time out and facing a set point at 22:21 before seeking a team talk of their own and winning the next three rallies. With their inability to substitute, having just six players, and with no change in rotation during the match, Bears were more able to anticipate Baks ploys. Even so, Baks played very well and only from 14:all in the second set did Black Bears take control and in the third they stayed in contact right through to 14:all when great serving by Luke Richardson established a run of points that took his side to victory.
