London teams' latest results (National Volleyball League)
Giants keep up their pressure
Orcas' success over Cambridge means there is just three points between third and seventh place in the women's Super League table as the point approaches when the top five get separated to battle for the honours for the season. Showing tremendous determination after a closer than comfortable second set, Orcas stamped their authority on the game to win the third set comfortably.

The week-end having been reserved for matches in the second round of the National Shield, the knock out competitions for teams eliminated early from the Cup, there were few fixtures allocated for the week-end just passed. A handful of league games subsequently rearranged have swelled their number a little. Of these, one involved two London teams and six others just one. Of these six, the London team won five of them, the loss taking five breathtaking sets.

Orcas second team emulated their elite squad with an excellent women's first division win away in Sunderland. After losing the opening set and shading an extremely close second they gradually demonstrated that they possessed greater variety and consistency. Orcas 2 and Oxford remain the only undefeated teams in the division with Richmond, with a single loss, close behind.

In the men's second division Richmond maintained their place at the top of the table by beating their hosts at Oxford & Brookes University. However, they still face a strong challenge from Weymouth Beach Volleyball club who have played fewer matches.

There was more success on Sunday for Richmond in women's Division One when they beat Birmingham at home in a close four set match after losing the second set.
