London volleyball news
On the Copper Box stage
Open in new windowIt will almost certainly be the biggest volleyball spectator event so far at the Copper Box Arena in the Olympic Park. The London club IBB Polonia that usually plays in Ealing, having qualified by winning the English national championship, has entered the European club champions league and booked the 2012 Olympic arena for its home leg of the first round. They anticipate a huge event.

While preparation is well under way, the club is looking to recruit a few more "ball rollers" to ensure that spectators and television alike will be treated to a smooth running event. It is looking for up to ten young volleyballers to help: volleyballers because their knowledge of the game will be a great asset and because they hope the experience will add to young players' understanding of the game and inspire them to progress.

The club will require a two day commitment:
- a practice day on Saturday 26th October
at IBB Polonia's home national league match against Malory Eagles
near Kew Bridge station at Bentwood Fountain Leisure Centre, TW8 0HJ
that starts at 4 o'clock on Saturday 26th October

- at the match itself on Wednesday 30th October
at the CEV Champions League game against Mladost Zagreb
at the Copper Box Arena in the Olympic Park, E20 3HB
that starts at 7 o'clock on Wednesday 30th October

With arrival time needed well before the starts of the warm up, about four hours will need to be offered on each occasion. Elsa Meserlian, the London Association's Junior Development Officer, is handling the selection of the "ball rollers" and all who are interested in volunteering for this extraordinary opportunity are asked to contact her [juniors.londonvollleyball@gmail.com]
