London Beach Volleyball
Eager for August on the Beach
The seaside is the place to be in August and many London beach volleyball players will be heading to the coast. Favourites look like being the big Bournemouth event over 17th and 18th August including its one star UKBT mixed Saturday and three star men and women Sunday, three star and four star tournaments for both men and women in Cardiff over 24th and 25th August and the South Coast Grand Prix in Worthing: women on Saturday, 31st August and men's on Sunday 1st September.

As the season enters this crucial stage, the men's national rankings are headed by Flaming Six Aces' Mark Garcia-Kidd with Aldo Rendon Peiro nearly 200 points behind in second while Peter Dyakiewicz, one-time Aces stalwart completes London's interest in the top spots in third place and Issa Baltrane whom many Londoners saw during the CEV Championship in May is in fifth place having played much less frequently so far than those above him on the list.

SideOut's Federica Ferretti is enjoying a great season on the sand but she is over 500 points behind rankings' leader Polonia SideOut's indoor star Agnieszka Adamek from the same number of tournaments. Interestingly, Welsh players take two of the next three places in the women's rankings.

In London itself, the month gets under way on 4th August with a three star UKBT event for both men and women in Teddington organised by Richmond Beach VC

The SideOut Summer Series continues over 10-11th August with three UKBT events, on Saturday three star tournaments for both men and women and on Sunday a one star mixed event in Leyton.

The UKBT tour returns to Teddington on 18th August for two star events for men and women

A slightly different format in Richmond on 25th August, ahead of the Bank Holiday, is a mixed four-a-side tournament for the André Montenegro Cup.

London's month will end with a big weekend at Crystal Palace when there will be a UKBT three star tournament for men and for women on Saturday 31st and, next day, one star and a two star mixed events

A new beach event for players under 17 years of age will have got under way on Sunday 28th July in Worthing when SideOut Beach hold the first of three Junior Volleyball England Beach Tour rounds. During August SideOut Beach will organise the second round in Leyton on Sunday 4th. A week later on Sunday 11th August, Richmond Beach VC will stage the third in Teddington. Then, on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th August we'll enjoy the final stages of the competition in Oxford, Entry details and full information can be found at https://www.sideout.co.uk/juniorvebt?f ... xuvoypv4i8zoxuwrRs8uozfQw

Worth a special mention in conclusion is the end of the month attraction of SideOut's South Coast Grand Prix in Worthing, the women's tournament taking place on Saturday, 31st and the men's on Sunday 1st September.

The closing date for entering the adult events is two weeks in advance and can be done through the organiser's web site:
