Sheffield beat East London Lynx 24:26 25:18 20:25 26:24 15:11 (National Finals, Sitting Grand Prix)
Sheffield retain title
East London Lynx put in a magnificent performance in the Grand Prix final in Kettering this morning (Saturday 27th April) but went down in a memorable five set match to Sheffield who retained their Sitting Grand Prix title.

Rather like last year, it was a close contest with the advantage ebbing and flowing. The first set was extremely tight until the Yorkshiremen took a late initiative. However, Lynx produced a comeback that silenced their opponents' support, saved four set points and seized the opening set 24: 26. Sheffield recovered amazingly well and stormed into a 13:4 lead with some great blocking. Although Lynx recovered and closed the gap considerably, Sheffield held their nerve to level things at 25:18.

Lynx won the third set 20:25 to recover the lead but tightened up in a tense fourth set that they had appeared ready to take at 20:23 but Sheffield regrouped and wrapped up the set 26:24 with captain Kev Tann serving to level the match. In the deciding set the teams traded points to 10:10.when the reigning champions hit a purple patch to power ahead and win the set 15:11.
