Women's Premier : QKX look secure at top

Close competition for minor places Women's Premier Division (London Volleyball League)
Prospects tough for Jamme Ja
It was a bit of a battle after an easy first set but victory over Lionhearts Jamme Ja on Thursday (21st March) as good as wins them this season's title. Only a disaster could prevent the club finishing top when the fixtures are complete. However, below that with four teams on twenty-four points, it could not be closer.

There was evidence of that a couple of days earlier when Rebels beat Lionhearts East who remain in second place while Rebels moved into third ahead of Inter and Onyx. East would seem to have the easiest run to the finishing line with a home fixture against Rebels on 29th April their only meeting with one of the top teams and a list that includes two games against their own club's second team, Jamme Ja. Having played one game more, Onyx's chances of honours look slimmer than the others but Inter and Rebels have everything to play for and their final position will almost certainly be decided when they play each other in Kentish Town on 24th April.

The three bottom teams all have a tough run to the end of the season and should results go to form, it could be that relegation was decided by Jamme Ja's lost point. However, sport is sport and surprise is never a shock. They could yet end ahead of Polonia IMKA or White Bears.
