Women's Div. 2 B : Onyx B keep on flying

End of year review, Division 2B (Women’s London Volleyball League)
Imperial College a strong threat
One match tells a lot of the story of the season so far. While some were enjoying fireworks a day early, there were bangs of a different sort at the Harrow Club when Imperial College challenged Onyx 2. An incredibly competitive game going to 20:18 in its fifth set and exhibiting volleyball of a standard that many would not expect of a local league second division. Congratulations to all involved. Imperial actually outscored Onyx by 101 points to 95 but that's volleyball!

Having continued to win all their matches, Onyx remain top of the table. After beating Imperial, they went to Westminster and won in four sets. They enjoyed the same score-line at home to Lionhearts Beats a week later and then won in straight sets away to Flaming Six Dragons.

Imperial too went on winning. First it was a comprehensive dismissal of Dynamo Daredevils then a good win in four sets against Tuskers, both being home fixture. They will enjoy a home fixture too when rivals Onyx come up next. It will be at one o'clock on 24th February at Academy Sports. But before then there will be more challenges.

In third place in our end of year league table lies Flaming Six Dragons. This well organised side has played all six of its fixtures on schedule and, with four of them having been played away, look strong for the second half of their programme. However, their only victories have been a straight sets win away at Waltham Forest and a very close five setter at home to Westminster. Mathematically, they can still be overtaken by all the teams below them in the table so there is still much for everyone to play for during the rest of the season.

With a game in hand, Tuskers are poised to strike with just a single point difference while Westminster, Beats and Waltham Forest each have two additional games in hand Waltham Forest have beaten Tuskers. Westminster have beaten Dynamo. Beats have beaten Dragons, The new year is going to be an exciting one.
