End of year review, Division 2C (Men's London Volleyball League)
With Fireball in top spot
Having played two more games that their biggest threat, Fireball have spent Christmas and the New year celebrations on top of the table but it will be second place Baks 2 who will be more satisfied with their performances in the first part of the season.

The Spikers lower side opted not to take promotion to division one at the end of last season, having failed to build on the same achievement two years before that, Fireball were expected to do well but lost away to Baks 2 in late October albeit in four close sets and then at home to Wimbledon Wolves 2 a fortnight later, again in four sets but with a less threatening performance. Following that, victories against Tuskers, SQUAD 2 and Ernest Bevin 2 have enabled them to mount to the top of the table.

Baks 2, meanwhile, have followed success with success. although they have dropped a set in every match except the one sadly conceded by Ernest Bevin 2. At home to Tuskers the score was 21:15 9:21 21:18 21:15. Away to SQUAD they triumphed 17:21 21:19 13:21 19:21. Then in the key match of the first half of the season they conquered Fireball at home in Castle Green 21:19 12:21 21:18 21:15.

Down in Rotherhithe, SQUAD 2, currently third in the table, have had encouraging results despite the two losses. They had begun the season away in Bexley and beat Besty Boys 16:21 8:21 19:21 then showed great character in overcoming Wolves 2 in Wimbledon 17:21 21:19 19:21 21:16 7:15 before a home match against Tuskers that they won 21:19 21:13 21:14

Wimbledon Wolves will probably feel they might have done better. They began disappointingly with a 21:12 21:16 17:21 21:16 loss at Tuskers but were able to take two sets off SQUAD and one off Fireball before coming so close to beating Besty boys, losing away, 21:18 14:21 20:22 21:13 17:15.then taking three points when Ernest Bevin conceded their pre-Christmas fixture.

Tuskers' record is nearly identical but the side is in fifth place on sets difference and they were able to play at Ernest Bevin where they enjoyed a good, competitive win. They overcame their hosts 10:21 17:21 21:16 15:21.

Besty Boys lie sixth but have a game in hand over their nearest rivals and a three set win would enable them to leap to fourth with only a single set difference keeping them from third. They are a team to watch but their first fixtures after the break will be against SQUAD and Fireball so their fans' joy could be delayed. Ernest Bevin B bring up the rear.
