End of year review (Women’s Premier Division - London Volleyball League)
Lionhearts East poised to catch up
The division looks like having a 100% record as the event takes a mid-winter break and we enjoy the Christmas and New Year holidays.

QKX arrived at the top of the table after beating Polonia IMKA in straight sets on 9th December. It was the first league game all season in which they had not dropped a set. They had begun at the end of September with a match against Inter deemed to be a draw. Then followed a 3:2 loss away to Lionhearts East, a 3:1 victory away to Rebels, then 3:1 home victories against White Bears and Jamme Ja.

Lionhearts East would seem to be their closest challenger but they have only played four games and their results have been even closer. After three successive 3:2 victories they lost in four sets away to White Bears and postponed their mid December against club-mates Jamme Ja until April.

Jamme Ja made a disappointing start to the season losing in quick succession to Inter and IMKA before beating Onyx 3:0 away, losing to QKX and taking the break following two good victories: 22:20 21:18 21:18 at home against Rebels and 10:21 15:21 13:21 away to White Bears and looking a much improved side.

With a 3:2 win:loss ratio and a game in hand, Rebels still look a threat to the teams above them in the league table. They began the season well with two wins in October, the first in three sets against IMKA before a 21:18 15:21 14:21 21:15 11:15 success away to Onyx. After taking a set off QKX, they lost to Jamme Ja 3:0 at home to suffer a disappointing month of November but cheered themselves considerably in mid December by beating White Bears at home in four sets,

After that early season tie, the good win in four sets against Jamme Ja and the closest of losses in five sets to Lionhearts East, Inter bounced back with an encouraging victory over Polonia IMKA 21:12 22:20 21:10 at home. However, in their last match before the break visitors Onyx proved much too strong for them, winning 14:21 18:21 17:21 at home in Kentish Town.

Polonia IMKA with two victories in six matches and White Bears with one from six, bring up the remainder. The sides meet in Balham on 20th January to ensure one of them has an encouraging start to the second half of the season. QKX travel to Inter three days later, Lionhearts East having entertained Onyx on 21st, the same evening as Rebels v Jamme Ja in Peckham. Let competition recommence.
