Men's Premier : Wildcats too strong for ULU
Posted by Media Team on 2018/11/7 10:40:00 (197 reads)

ULU lost to Wapping Wildcats, 13:21 12:21 9:21, Premier Division (Men's London Volleyball League)
Clinical dispatch of students
Wildcats arrived with almost a minimal squad including newcomer Marcel Sivak who remained on the bench for two sets and then in the third produced a spell of serving that rocked the hosts just as it looked as though they might be settling down.

After winning the opening rally, ULU were hit by an avalanche of attacks, the front line of Dario Costa, Christoph Datler and Ivan Vatolik proving unstoppable until Wildcats led 1:7. ULU more or less held their own from there to the end of the set and will be encouraged by their performance. They began the second brightly too as the set began with six successive side-outs but Wildcats slowly increased their pressure and stormed away from 9:13 to take a two set lead. It was 4:all when the new wild cat revealed his identity to those who did not know. Marcel also plays for IBB Polonia in the national Super League but, as a libero does not usually have the chance to serve. It was 4:10 when ULU again had the opportunity to serve but, having instigated a recovery to 7:10, Wildcats turned on the pressure once again to storm to victory.
