Men's Premier : Good start for Lynx against ULU
Posted by Media Team on 2018/10/6 14:10:00 (110 reads)

Lynx beat ULU, 17:21 21:12 23:21 21:11 Premier Division (Men's London Volleyball League)
Win in fluctuating play
With the great facility in Olympic Park available a few days after the date set in the fixture list this match was switched to the delight of all involved.

In past seasons ULU have taken a few weeks longer than some of their opponents to settle into the division and it seemed rather the same in this game. Initially, it did not look as though there would be a repeat this season as they took charge of play in the opening set and produced some excellent volleyball in the third before losing it in a tie-break. They did not play as poorly as the score-line suggests in sets two and four but Lynx raised their game immediately after losing the first and played very well indeed to go top of the table : points difference, for and against being better than Aces' but not taken into account in the published table.

Both teams play this weekend (6/7th October) in the National Cup when ULU take on Super League IBB Polonia. Meanwhile Lynx, which withdrew from national competition at the end of last season, entertain another national Super League side Tendring on Sunday. The matches should offer an excellent pointer to form as teams settle into the season.
