London matches away (Men's and women’s Super8 - National Volleyball League)
Eagles winged by Sheffield
Just two London Super8 sides were in action over the weekend (10/11th March) and both played away, Malory Eagles men in Sheffield and Polonia Sideout women in Birmingham.

Sideout returned home rejoicing that a relatively comfortable victory in a match that proved challenging only in the second set, a victory that took them to second place in the final league table. Orcas now finish close behind in fourth and, although both teams above them and all those behind still have games to play, their position cannot change. Now it will be serious preparation for the play-off matches.

Malory Eagles had to travel rather further to play Sheffield and came so very close to a valuable away victory, winning the first and third sets and challenging hard in the second and fourth before falling to some excellent Yorkshire volleyball in the deciding set. They are due to play Sheffield again, this time at home, after their fixture was cancelled because weather induced venue closure of their venue but, even if they beat them and win their two other remaining fixtures, they won't be able to move into third place. They could lose fourth, though, if they lose all their remaining games including that against Richmond Docklands at Ernest Bevin in two weeks' time.

Meanwhile, Malory Eagles have speedily rearranged their away fixture against Wessex and will be travelling to Bournemouth next weekend to play on Saturday 17th March.
