National League and Shield, (national volleyball competitions)
Malory Eagles go on winning; IMKA through to quarter final
Outside Super8 were three key women's games: Polonia IMKA played its delayed Shield match at New Forest on Sunday (4th February) to decide who is to face Dartford in the quarter final while Malory Eagles spent the weekend in the north of England to continue its unbeaten run and close on top of the table, Sheffield Hallam.

First challenge for Malory Eagles were the league leaders and our promotion challengers were in ruthless form dismissing them in straight sets on Saturday. Most impressive while also discouraging for their opposition was winning the first set from being 18:14 down with UEL American outside hitter Allie Davenport serving ten straight points including three aces.

Next day, facing the more lowly Salford: three from the bottom, they were handicapped by an injury from Saturday leaving them with only seven players and the libero. However, they started in a similar mood but, after a wobble in the third set when the lack of personnel meant they were unable to change things when changes were needed, ran out comfortable winners.

Sheffield hold on to top spot in the published league table but, having played three more games and lost two of them compared with Eagles' undefeated record, are now just five points in front.

IMKA became London's third side in the last eight of the national Shield competition after travelling play New Forest and enjoying a three set win, the last of the sets demanding the best from them as the hosts produced a strong exhibition of local pride. One of the three will have to be eliminated on 24th February unfortunately as IMKA have been drawn to play against Dartford, IMKA being at home.

Sheffield lost to Malory Eagles 18:25 17:25 19:25
