Knock-out Shield (men's and women's English Volleyball Cup)
Women of Richmond and Dartford advance
The men's and women's competitions are not in sync and the men's semi-finalists were decided over the past weekend (6-7th January) while the women played for a place in the last sixteen.

Flaming Six Aces were - and are - the only London men's team left in the competition and had a good win over Newmarket at home though the National League third division side competed hard against first division opponents and took them to four sets before losing, 21:25 25:20 25:20 25:22. Aces have a home draw again in the next round and will face Tamworth, another side from the same third division but currently top of the table,

In the women's competition, the University of London battled hard before Richmond's experience told in the fifth set away in Richmond while London Bears also did well before going down to the experienced Ashcombe, refusing to be overawed after a rather nervous first set. Dartford, meanwhile, had the unsatisfactory experience of a walk-over Sussex Dolphins whom they had been due to travel to meet. The other London derby between Polonia IMKA and Dulwich Tuskers has been postponed until 21st January giving the winners only a week to prepare to play away to New Forest in the next round. In that round, Richmond will be at home to Ashcombe and Dartford at home to Southampton.
