Mid season review (Men's Premier Division - London Volleyball League)
Three more poised to challenge
It's close, the closest for many years: with no team in the division having yet played half its matches, not one has a 100% record. What a competition we have to look forward to in the new year!

Three sides have lost only a single game. One, Wapping Wildcats at home to Lynx, 14:21 21:17 16:21 22:20 6:15 and their conquerors, the second, who were beaten in the opening match of the season when Richmond triumphed, 21:17 21:5 11:21 19:21 15:13. Matching their women's team, Inter top the table though, thanks to having played one more game but they took Wapping to five sets and Lynx to four. Richmond follow closely behind having won three of their six matches with all three losses coming in five set games. They include one loss to Flaming Six Aces, the third, whose only loss came away at Inter, 17:21 19:21 17:21 and who trail in the table because they have played only four times.

With those five making the running, Spikers remain in with a chance and, although their only wins came against the two bottom teams, they took both Lynx and Inter to five sets. The two Malory Eagles teams, both promoted at the end of last season, seem not yet to have come to terms with the greater power and pace of the Premier Division.

This means that just in the first two weeks after the resumption of the season there will be five key fixtures. If you support one of the teams, do get along to cheer them on. They all want your encouragement:
20th January, Wapping Wildcats v Inter
22nd January, Lynx v Richmond
28th January, Inter v Flaming Six Aces
2nd February, Richmond v Inter
4th February, Spikers v Wapping Wildcats.
