Men's Div. 2 A : IVA bounce Thunderball

IVA Persia beat Thunderball (Men’s D2A - London Volleyball League)
21:13 21:18 21:11

Three set win at home
Without several of their regular squad, Thunderball found it difficult to compete with an increasingly confident IVA Persia on Saturday (26th November) and after a tremendous effort in the second set they faded in the final quarter of an hour.

Caught cold from the start, Thunderball immediately went 4:0 down and though they recovered to 4:all and then to 6:all, 7:all and 9:all, they faded to 16:9 and, after a couple of winners, were outscored two points to one for the rest of the first set.

Although they were nearly always playing catch-up during the second set, Thunderball put in an excellent performance and forced IVA to product their very best. The visitors only led at 15:16 but the score soon moved to 17:all and, despite the visiting spectators' encouragement, IVA won the vital final rallies.

IVA were rapidly 3:0 ahead in the third, quickly increasing their advantage to 8:1 and 10:2 and Thunderball heads dropped. They did enjoy one mini-spell of success in which they closed to 7:10 but showed little sign thereafter that they were going to reverse the pattern of play.

It was to be IVA Persia's afternoon.
