SGSS Southall beat Tunnel Diggers (Men’s D2A - London Volleyball League)
21:13 21:9 21:11

Southall Snatch First Points
Both teams had just six players so the security check for this match was super quick and, when play got under way, it looked as though Tunnel Diggers were missing Tony McCann, both as a setter and a coach, rather more that the absent Singhs.

Sunday 26th Nov 1.30pm SGSS Southall played Tunnel Diggers. A meeting between two teams who were both searching for their first victory of the season.

Tunnel Diggers got off to the better start edging Southall by a few points as the teams settled. Southall changed their approach after some early mistakes and managed to come back into the game at the half way mark to 10:11. The second half of the set was played out in the same manner until Southall’s Satinder Sangha pressure serves took five points to take the first set 21:13. Tunnel Diggers first set fight was dented in set 2 as Southall serve continued to prove difficult to receive and build from. However Tunnel Diggers kept positive and managed a mini-rally towards the end but lost 21:9. Set 3 was better for Tunnel Diggers but by now Southall were well settled in attack and closed out the game 21:11. Southall’s Coach Rajinder Sangha commented on how Tunnel Diggers in the first season where were Southall were in their first season last year. If they keep going they will no doubt improve and certainly have the potential to do well as they play more. Southall took their first win of the season and the Referee Andy Kwiatkowski joked onwards for a late push for promotion! Both teams played a friendly set after the game, when some of the female officers joined in, and look forward to their second game.
