General Volleyball : Striding towards a brighter future

Looking good in 2018 (Marketing, London Volleyball Association)
London Volleyball to consult its members
Some weeks ago (23rd September) we posted an article to make our thoughts known as volleyball nationally faces new challenges. Here in London, your executive needs to plan for the future. The anticipated meeting took place last weekend (5th November)

The association's marketing officer, Douglas Barr-Hamilton assembled a small group: LVA chairman Charlie Orton, secretary Cisel Ormanci, junior competition secretary Elsa Meserlian whose expertise from her full time job will be invaluable and the professional Marketing and Communications Coordinator for Volleyball England, Michael Hallam. They were able to have encouraging discussions.

Although the words were not used, it was clear that national officers want the sport's enthusiasts to work together and to get the message across that we all are Volleyball England; it is not a faceless group based in Loughborough. Those of us who represented London declared our determination to see our region lead the way in developing volleyball. How do we do that? Well, it can't be done without the support of the bulk of people in the sport: clubs and their officers, players, coaches, referees and administrators. We also need to know what they want. So a survey will be asking what you think and how you would like to contribute.

The group made a list of what things it thought were key:
communication
media coverage and other publicity
competition for all age ranges in all versions of the game
greater opportunity to play
public recognition
and, aware that no initiative should go off half-speed, they suggested London Volleyball spend several months planning to be able to start an exciting and well organised programme with the 2018-19 indoor volleyball season.

So towards the end of November, where the Association knows the email address of a London enthusiast, we will be seeking the views through a consultation and survey paper. As many responses as possible would be invaluable and they are requested for before mid January so planning can begin in earnest. Any visitor to the site who does not receive the survey who would like to share their ambitions for the sport and ways to take it forward should contact marketing.lva@londonvolleyball.org.uk or use a copy of the survey form which will be available from this web site.

Regular reports on responses will be provided to encourage as many contributions as possible. The group wants everyone to be involved in taking our sport into the future it deserves.
