London sides prepare (National Knock-out Cups)
Derby matches for all but three
An extraordinary draw for the first round of the national cup competition. Only London Baks men, ULU women and Dartford Ladies play out-of-town opposition and all are drawn to play at home. All the rest play another London side. Attendances should be good.

The men's competition gets under way with a preliminary round match on 3rd September when Bears play Onyx. Bears will have home advantage but a side that finished mid table in Division One of the London League is going to have its hands full against the guys who topped Division Two so emphatically and are determined to make their mark on the competition. Winning will require a visit to London Lynx 2 for the first round proper. The remaining first round matches are scheduled for a fortnight later on Saturday 16th September when Baks entertain one of the stalwarts of the Surrey League, Guildford International and Lionhearts Predators, runners-up in London Men's Division 1A in an impressive 2016-17 season, have the daunting task of a visit from the winners of the Premier Division, Wapping Wildcats.

The first London action in the women's competition will be seen on Sunday 17th September with a visit from Wapping Wabbits, like their men drawn away, who will face Polonia Sideout Academy. All the remaining matches are listed for Sunday 8th October. Bears are to play London Inter women at home, a contest that last season's form suggests will be tight. Dartford will be at home to Cambridge side, Rhinos. Dulwich Tuskers have the awesome task of a visit from Polonia IMKA. ULU have drawn a visit from Sussex Dolphins; the date looks a bit too early in the academic year for students.
