Men's Div. 1 A : Willesden's glorious victory

National Shield quarter-final
Conquerors of Newmarket
The national media would call Willesden a non-league side. We know them as a London League Division 1 team: our division. They are but a lowly sixth in the A division. Does that not speak volumes for the standard of our games that they have reached the semi-final of the National Shield competition having reached the second round of the Cup where they were beaten by London Lynx 2?

Stuart Fullerton always brings out the best in his players when the going is tough and his players did produce their best. So it was almost to be expected, yet remarkable that they beat Newmarket from the top half of National League Division 3 (Central) in four sets to earn a semi-final place where they will play another London side, Aces, from our Premier Division who also head the National League division 2 (South).

The match is scheduled for 25th February.

Willesden Sports Centre, 29th January
