Help:: User Registration: I've been deleted!
This will happen if you register but the registration isn't activated shortly afterwards, say within 10 days. An email like below is sent to the registered address.

Activation notes:
Registration is a two step process. Step 1 involves filling in details like a Username, Email and Password and hitting a 'submit' button. Then a message follows asking you to look out for an Email from the website containing an 'Activation Code'.

Step 2 involves using the 'Activation Code' which unlocks your account so you can login.

Common problems include:
Didn't know about 'Activation'.
Email never arrived.
- perhaps you entered the wrong email address
- perhaps it was treated as Junk Mail (Spam)

The easiest solution is to start the process again. So I have deleted your un-activated registration allowing you to use your previous Username and Email address. If you find any 'Activation Code' Emails dated before today you should scrap them - they won't work.

If you feel the previous Email may have been treated as Junk Mail then put @londonvolleyball.org.uk in your safe senders list and, if necessary, ask your local network administrator to allow Email from @londonvolleyball.org.uk

If you still get trouble tell me and we'll try and work out a solution.

There are two steps to becoming a Registered User on the website.

Step 1
Click on Register Now! in the Login box and fill in some details. The important bits are your Username, Email and Password. After you hit the 'submit' button you are asked to look out for an Email from the website containing an 'Activation Code'. At this point you have registered but your account is not active. Most people manage this step OK.

Step 2
Open the Email from the website and click on the 'Activation Code' link. If it's not click-able then copy it into the address bar of your browser. This activates your account and you can login.

Common problems with activation

Didn't know about it
You missed the note during Step 1.
Solution
- Look in your Inbox

The Email is sent at the end of Step 1 so you shouldn't have to wait long for it to arrive, but then again you might.

It never arrived: you entered the wrong email address
It's mostly likely the Activation Code email will have disappeared. In the unlikely event it reached somebody else and they activated your account don't worry they can't login as only you have your password. The most likely outcome is your account remains un-activated, and you're left wondering where the email went.
Solution
- Tell a Site Administrator. They need to delete your account so you can re-register.
- Wait for a reply telling you it's OK then re-register.

It never arrived: treated as Junk Mail (Spam)
Assuming you entered the address correctly it may have been treated as Junk Mail by your computer, your ISP or your receiving email server if you're on a local network.
Solution
- First check any Junk Mail folders. If it's not there then ...
- Put @londonvolleyball.org.uk in your safe senders list
- Ask your local network administrator to allow mail from @londonvolleyball.org.uk
- Tell a Site Administrator. They need to delete your account so you can re-register.
- Wait for a reply telling you it's OK then re-register.

Activated OK: password doesn't work
Most likely you are trying a different password. Remember user names and passwords are case sensitive!
Solution
- Click on the Lost Password? link. This sends a message to the email address you registered with. It will remind you of your user name and includes a link that you click which then sends you a new password. You can now log-in and change the password if you want something different.

If you're still having trouble contact a Site Administrator explaining what's happened, they may have other ideas to help you.

Great! There are two ways to do this.

Quick to publish
If you are registered and logged-in you can use the 'quicker publication forms' available here.

These forms are a series of boxes that help you provide all the information needed for your item and allow sending pictures and files.

Less quick to publish
If you're not logged-in or don't want to register but still wish to send something to a Section Editor use the forms available here.

These forms take unformatted text so don't waste time with fancy layouts. Also, the forms are time-limited, so do the creative work in your favourite word processor and paste it into the form just before sending. And before you ask. No, these forms don't allow any attached files, not even pictures - just use the forms.

The downside with these forms is the Editor may take some time in getting your material on the site as they need to:
- put the material in a suitable form
- clarify ambiguous or missing details
- check it is suitable
- check it is genuine
all this takes time and if your submission looks like a long task then an Editor may postpone it until they have enough time. So if you can get registered, log-in and use the 'quicker publication forms'.

The Editors are ready and waiting, so get writing!

Registration and logging-in is useful if you ...

It will ease communication between us and there may be material on the site that you cannot view if not registered and logged in.

.. wish to frequently submit content
You will have access to 'quicker publication forms' that get your material like news items, match reports, adverts and information on events, courses etc. to website editors in a format they can handle quicker.

.. wish to participate in the forums
.. wish to add comments to items in some section of the site
We only allow posting by registered users.

.. wish to be alerted by activity on the site
In some areas of the site you will be able to set up a 'notification' request so, for example, if you were interested in a particular topic in a forum you would receive an alert every time a new post was added.

Lots of places, so I guess you want to know where other people in London play and go and join them. The good news is you're in the right place. The bad news is you'll have to do some work yourself.

Firstly, the London Volleyball Association doesn't have a team that plays volleyball - it is the organization that governs volleyball in London - it runs leagues and other competitions for volleyball clubs in London.

Secondly, we can't recommend a club or group to suit you. You will have to choose one yourself. However many clubs and volleyball groups in London are known to us and this gives you a better start than stopping people in the street and asking!

So click on Find ... a London Club to see a map of London's volleyball venues. At the bottom of that page you can narrow your search by using filters like 'level of competition' etc. Select a venue and it should tell you which clubs play there, on which days and who to contact.

I recommend approaching several clubs, visiting their training sessions and meeting their members before deciding which to join. To find a club in a convenient location you will have to check the venue's address from the website with a good street map.

When clubs are contacted by people wishing to play they often like to know what standard they are, how old, male or female, how long they are staying in London. Also, there is no professional volleyball in the UK so players pay all the expenses of playing which many visitors from abroad find a surprise. So ask each club how much they charge and whether the money is paid 'per session' or 'per season'.

Start with that and if you run into difficulties (like the club details are out of date, or you get no sensible responses) tell the LVA Secretary how far you've got and they will try and help in other ways.

The fact that you are reading this means we didn't get it right. You've looked around for a while, can't find what you wanted and come here for some help. You probably think the whole site is like the contents of a volleyball player's kit bag, disorganized, most of it useless and the shoes, well 'so last year's colour!' OK, let's start by pointing out where the obvious things are.

Main horizontal menu takes you to:

News
This one is a bit obvious, it carries news articles. Actually it shows the same articles that appear in the 'General Volleyball' and 'London Volleyball' sections under News Topics below.

News Topics gives you:

General Volleyball and London Volleyball
These are news articles.

Other News Topics
These concentrate on more specific topics including individual divisions within the London Volleyball League where you will find results tables, match reports and other items specific to each division.

Events, courses etc.
Open sessions, tournaments, courses and the like get listed here in a calendar. You can change the format and viewing period using the tabs. Much more useful though is the filter at the top where you can reduce the clutter and just see the types of things you're looking for.

Small ads
Similar to a newspaper's classifieds section this is where people, clubs and others make announcements like, 'players wanted', 'coach looking for a club', 'grant available', 'secondhand kneepads for sale' (OK, not many of the last type but you get the idea!)

About us
Items that help you to understand who we are, what we do and why.

Resources
This is the big one and also the most difficult to organize - more like a plumber's toolbox than a player's kit bag! - but click on this and a more detailed menu appears on the right side. This is where slow changing information, like About the LVA live. If you have trouble sleeping try reading some of that!

In the Resources section different types of user will see different sub-sections. Contributors, for instance, will find guide notes to help them add content to the site, but if you're not a contributor you are spared from having your screen cluttered up with that sort of nonsense.

The London Volleyball League has its rules here along with team and match administration items like player registration cards and transfer forms, team line-up sheets and links for requesting referees.

When we have active Special Interest Groups, like for Coaches, Referees or Members then you should find a section visible here. When the group is inactive then the section will probably be hidden.
