Photo Shoot

Volleyball England are currently reviewing the brand messaging and part of this process is involving creating some images that can be used for posters and other promotional items.

They are holding a photo shoot on Tuesday 16th March in a studio with a professional photographer and stylist to help coordinate the day. They are looking for volleyballers to be in the photos and as the shoot is taking place in London all those in the ‘local area’ are being targeted first. Any ability, age, gender is welcome, whether you are a beach, indoor or sitting player!

Imperial & UCL women in BUCS last 8s

The women's team from Imperial College (pictured) and another from UCL have qualified for the BUCS championships in Sheffield on 12 to 14 March. This will be the third consecutive qualification for Imperial's women for these championships run for students by the British Universities and Colleges Sports. Imperial's men's team, who were top contenders, should also have made it but were disqualified by defaulting their match against a weak Oxford for failing to organise a referee.

Sitting Volleyball Awareness Day

Eagles Land in Final
Malory Eagles will be contesting their 9th National Cup final in 10 years following a 3-1 victory over Newcastle Staffs. The final, to be held at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, will see the event’s return to the Capital in an all London final; Polonia having beaten current champions, Sheffield.

National Cup Finals

Three London Teams, London Polonia, Malory Eagles and Polonia Ladies are through to the main Cup Finals at Crystal Palace on 24th April. Tickets are available now and massive support is expected. Along with the senior event are the sitting volleyball GP play-offs and on the following day the juniors get to play in their finals.

Malory Eagles have new perch
Since last summer's merger, the club has been setting out its vision and planning the steps to get there. The new website reveals a glimpse of this and includes the usual contact and venue details along with an insight into what they feel has made Malory Eagles successful. There are also some interesting articles, a forum, lists of events, a library of drills & plays for teams of all levels and information about the Ernest Bevin Volleyball Academy.

London juniors make last 8s

Ernest Bevin College, Chadwell Heath and the American School in London all feature in the National Championships U16 and U18 Last 8s. The U16 matches are set to run ahead of the senior National Cup semi-finals on 27th February at National Volleyball Centre, Kettering providing a concentrated day of top class sport. The U18s play on the 28th and both days start at 10:00. The results will determine which teams play in the finals later at Crystal Palace on 25th April - National Finals day. The London teams are: Ernest Bevin College (U16 boys & U18 Men) Chadwell Heath (U18 men) American School London (U18 Women).

London clubs at National Cup Semis

London clubs are in every match. In the Men's section the first match involves Malory Eagles against Newcastle Staffs with London Polonia play Sheffield in the second. Over in the women's section Polonia are involved again with Polonia Ladies pitted against Tameside followed by Swiss Cottage battling against Leeds Carnegie. The event is on 27th February 2010 at National Volleyball Centre, Kettering, and the teams are playing for a place in their respective finals which take place at Crystal Palace on 25th April. Entry is free and the action starts with a Warm-up at 17:30 for serving at 18:00.
